Way of Saint James Interpretation Centre

Discovering the first cultural route in Europe

The first route to be awarded “European Cultural Route” status, the Way of Saint James is made up of different routes, which, since 9th century, have been taken by pilgrims from all over Europe, wishing to visit the tomb of the Apostle Saint James, in Santiago de Compostela. Over the centuries, entire towns, churches, hospital and commercial rotes sprang up along the Way. Today, they constitute a veritable cultural, landscape, historical and artistic treasure.
